It's been awhile! LET'S QUESTIONING
Currently playing Simon Keyes in Kyr, Tamaki Suoh in Blood Match, still pretty into Simon Blackquill and Ace Attorney in general. I will also answer questions for dropped/musebox characters assuming I still remember them well enough to answer!

...Well, I mean he'll still be a ruthless criminal, since Dogen thinks of him as his "acolyte" and will likely either train to be an assassin or a smuggler. But like. Emotionally.
So for all that, I think he was better off in canon. Because in canon, he was done — he'd destroyed the people he needed to destroy and he suddenly had the one thing he'd been pining for since childhood: a home with someone who cared about him where he could be safe.
In Kyr, on the other hand, he's in constant danger from trauma games and he can't bring himself to trust anybody. Or even when he does grow to trust them (mainly Tora, though Ren and Shoelace are slowly starting to worm their way into this category), he doesn't trust that they won't just disappear. From his perspective, he can't count on anyone or anything, so he's constantly on edge, waiting for the next bad game or some memory that will turn Alectryon against him.
So no, no power of friendship for this guy. When he does friendship it's reluctant at best and he is constantly trying to emotionally brace himself for what he sees as inevitable ruin. Having memories of Dogen helps, but at this point it's not enough.
